See for yourself why iconic movies such as “A River Runs Through It” and “The Horse Whisperer” were filmed in Paradise Valley. Ascend switchbacks on Antelope Butte – formed of volcanic rock 60 million years ago and once home to the Crow Native Americans – where you will be greeted to a statuesque, snow-capped view of Emigrant Peak towering in the distance. At the summit, you will also see a cairn standing in reverence – an homage to the Crow Native Americans’ presence on the Butte dating back to the 1880s. Be sure to bring your binoculars – and camera! – as you may have the unique opportunity to view some of Montana’s natural inhabitants including Mule deer, Golden Eagles, fox, elk and more!

The Antelope Butte Hike is available April through September. The start time is 9:00am and the hike lasts approximately two hours. Our tour guides are members of Erik's Ranch, and are young adults on the autism spectrum. Your guide, Carolyn, has a passion for the outdoors and will entertain you with facts about the Ranch and the surrounding area.

We ask that you meet at the Lodge 15 minutes prior to the start of the hike so that you can be given safety instructions. You will be walking through brush, and as you ascend the Butte, the incline can be challenging. Please bring a water bottle, and wear long pants.

Buckle up for a thrilling and incredibly scenic drive along Pine Creek Trail, twisting and turning to the summit, at 7,650 ft. Homesteaded on May 20, 1862, and patented by Calvin Coolidge on December 21, 1928, you will have the unique opportunity to view three mountain ranges and 30 mountain peaks at the top of Chimney Rock! With 112 acres of untamed forest and 60 acres of open meadow, enjoy unprecedented tranquility and unparalleled scenery. Pack your camera!

Erik's Ranch, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides employment opportunities for young adults with autism. All tours are led by young adults with autism. Thank you for believing in all that those with autism can do.

The Chimney Rock Tour lasts two hours. You will follow our caretaker in your own car, as he leads you across rugged and unique terrain. Chimney Rock is located on private land, making this tour unique. You won't be able to experience this landscape and the peak on any other occasion! This ride is a good alternative for guests that cannot take the trail ride up Chimney Rock. Please meet at the Lodge at Erik's Ranch (273 Trail Creek Road) 15 minutes before the tour begins. Park your car in front of the Pool House, to the right of the Lodge, and your tour guides will meet you out front for introductions, as well as a brief history of Erik's Ranch, and the significance of Chimney Rock.
